Family Befriending Volunteer
1 Thorpe Close, Ladbroke Grove

Befrienders are carefully matched with families in order to build a trusting relationship that will enable them to take steps to live lives free from the consequences of poverty. The regular visits from a befriender may involve assisting a family to make contact with other organisations and engage with activities that might prove helpful to them in terms of reducing isolation and increasing engagement, via a positive empowering relationship with the volunteer. The relationship minimum time is 6 months once trained.

About Westminster Befriend A Family London

WBAF’s vision is that Westminster becomes a borough where: ‘All families lead fulfilling lives, free from the consequences of poverty’.
The befriending service aims to match trained befriending volunteers with local families in need, to provide them with practical and emotional support in the challenges they face. The aim of befriending is to provide families and children in need with the tools to improve their circumstances and lead more fulfilling lives. We aim to foster independence by being there for families so that they don’t have to face their challenges alone.
