Mentoring Volunteer
1 Thorpe Close, Ladbroke Grove

Mentors are part of our Broadening Horizons Project, and support young people aged 13 to 18 years old. They set and work towards an educational or career goal, over a period of six months. Mentors will be matched according to their skills and experience. The relationship minimum time is 6 months once trained. What will you be doing? The role will involve:
● Weekly sessions of two to three hours, at either the young person’s home, college, university or other relevant location.
● Looking at options for education and career.
In line with the young person’s education and career goals. ● Assisting with developing confidence and other life skills ● Writing up and submitting log sheets from each visit and tracking progress towards goals.
● Attending monthly supervision and training sessions. This role will also give you an opportunity to:
● Develop your coaching and mentoring skills.
● Gain experience of supporting a young person with goal setting.
● Gain experience in a small, local charity.
● Gain experience of working with young people in an educational setting.
● Build skills for college or work, which can be added to your CV.

The befriending service aims to match trained befriending volunteers with local families in need, to provide them with practical and emotional support in the challenges they face.The aim of befriending is to provide families and children in need with the tools to improve their circumstances and lead more fulfilling lives. We aim to foster independence by being there for families so that they don’t have to face their challenges alone.
